(Roll roofing, glued together seams) Results were no better than any standard mud puddle. Here was the original apple tree that came with the house. If you enlarge the tree, you will see it got lots of “engineering,”b240A-Jenny inspecting M and D’s block work for the upcoming back porch.b0243-This is the first pic that (probably) shows the second try at making a pond in the backyard of 1806 in 1966. There were a couple tries at making the pool hold water. You saw the first try back in slide 207. On that try we used roll roofing with sealed joints. When that failed, we later poured 3″ thick concrete “pie wedges” separated by cedar 1x3s. That’s (probably) the one that you see here. Neither worked well and Steve eventually broke it out for us and back-filled with dirt from Rabbit Hill to make the existing circle garden.b0248-L-R: Jenny, Mike, Steve. Uhhh… Why does Mike have a label on his chest? Is that connected to the Pizza they are eating?b0250-Mike in tree that came with 1806b0251-Jenny in back yard of 1806.b0252-Steve in back yard of 1806.b0254-Steve in long-gone redbud @ 1806b0255-Appearance of back of 1806 after Mum and I added the porch foundation. Don’t have any idea who helped us set the posts and lay the translucent roof. Maybe Jerry? This was the phase when we tried dark green for the house exterior.b0259A-Jerry, Peg in back yard of 1806.b0259B-Probably Sep. 1966, on new back porch at 1806.
