A good day to all… and especially to all the new mothers in the family!

Here’s a Mother’s Day letter from Grandma Julia in California
(b 1912=108)
“To all my dear Families; This is a short note to wish all the mothers a blessed and Happy Mother’s Day. We appreciate hearing from everyone.
We are happy to tell you Suzi and I are doing well. She has her garden and fortunately can download the books for me as the Library has stopped sending them due to the virus. So we are keeping happily occupied. No one has been allowed into the house and Suzi wore a mask the couple of times she has gone to town to pick up prescriptions, grocery orders and the mail. Our newspaper and some mail are delivered here so we really don’t suffer. The birds are chirping, the fruit trees are blooming and we have had fruit from the trees this spring. We had the grapefruit earlier and some oranges and now there have been a few cherries but they aren’t quite ripe yet. Suzi made marmalade from a handful of kumquats that turned out really rich and citrusy.. There have been three deer making themselves free of Suzi’s freshly planted garden produce. This is the first time we have seen them in or around our property/. We figure they have probably shown up because of the lack of traffic on the roads though something has been stripping certain trees of their fruit for a couple of years and we have blamed the raccoons. They normally stay in the rice fields or up on the hill in the trees but they are plowing the rice fields now for sowing. The air quality has been quite poor with all the dirt in the air. Otherwise it has been very quiet here. It’s just as it was when we moved out here in 1966.
Please let us hear from you all so we know you are all well.
With so much love, Julia and Suzi.”
