Family History-1979 & 1980

Standard Cast of Eleven!

Mum suggests that we lump two years together this time. There are only 7 pix from 1979, and 3 from 1980. Not sure why we didn’t take more….. Were we too busy? Or.. was the cost of processing the color film getting too high? Mystery!

We did spend a lot of time organizing our anti-nuclear-race group – Lafayette Peace Coalition– including a float into the 1980 Christmas Parade. Steve found and painted the rubber tired farm cart to hold the faux rockets.

Nine of you with Ernestine Gilbreth Carey, author (with her brother, Frank Jr.) of several books about the Gilbreth family in N.J.
Cheaper By the Dozen (1949) was the first book, and bears absolutely no similarity to the Steve Martin movie farce.
We have an autographed copy of the book from Ernestine, who was here to review her mother’s papers in Purdue’s Gilbreth Collection. We met Ernestine’s mother, (Lillian) while we were in college. We emulated many of the Gilbreth family goals.
Peg & Jerry
Peg said: 1979, but doesn’t know where the pic was taken.
Peg in her illustration office at Lilly Hall. The note on the back says Jerry took the pic 12/16/1979.
L-R back row: Mum holding Tom, Mike, Jenny, Dad (Holding up Feast brochure). L-R front row: Dan, Kathy, Pete, Kristy Kizer, and a friend. Note on the pic back says Natalie Leimkuhler took the pic at the Feast, Oct 1979.
Steve with Mum on front porch of 1806. Sorry about the head chop. Uhhh…the cameras weren’t as good back then. Yes, that’s it.
Somehow, he doesn’t look as happy in the graduation gown… as when he was in civies next to his truck!
Steve at 1806 for his WLHS graduation day, with his first pickup truck, a 1973 Chevy.
Jenny with a prom date, Jim Fuller.
Mike in musical Two By Two (about Noah story) at WLHS. Mr. Mildon at piano.
Mum with Dan and Tom. Possibly Mar-Apr 1980.
Dad and Steve at the Lafayette Peace Coalition presence in the Christmas parade downtown. Probably Nov 1980.
The LPC consisted of us, Al Pounders, Ben & Dorothy Olsen, their daughter Loren, Audrey Rossman, Steve Bonney, Pat & Dave Schwaiger, Al Black and several others I can’t remember right now.
Steve found and painted the rubber tired farm cart to hold the faux rockets.

Doing this blog has resulted in our cleaning up the pictures to be crisper than those earlier ones sorted and stored by Jenny on SmugMug. So as they appear on this blog, they will disappear from SmugMug

The Apple Photos software has been improved considerably from that available to us and to Jenny.

Also, Mum and I have re-done many captions

What this means to you: These are the best pix and most recent captions available, anywhere.

Therefore… until some other software appears to extract these photos with their updated captions from this blog, take screenshots and create a folder on your computers to store any that you are interested in.
