Richard giving our earth science presentation to a group of after-school children.  We take about 250-300 pounds of rocks, minerals, crystals, fossils, and books, and give a basic intro to earth science, all based on the age groups of the children.  The stories on certain rocks and their uses are interesting.  He also encourages them in STEM subjects and talks about the Science Olympiad events, especially Rock Hound.
This October we’ve been very busy giving our free earth science presentations in schools and after school centers.  Our Stockton Lapidary and Mineral Club show was the end of September where we advertise our presentations so we get inundated with requests.  We’re also starting the prep for coaches and teachers for the Science Olympiad.  Richard has been the event manager for Rock Hound (grades 3-6) for San Joaquin County for over 25 years now.
