News from the North… Jessica & Shaun

So many tomatoes this year, apples and peaches! It’s not exactly a well rounded diet, but it’s delicious 😁
The art around the square show in Auburn this year was focused on garden benches. I’m sending along some pictures of my favorites! 
This is the piece Shaun and I submitted: it’s titled “The Adventures You Meet” and was inspired by books and film where strangers meet on various forms of transportation, mixed with inspiration from dad’s model train set. 

I did the overall design and painting. Shaun worked up a design for the passenger windows to move using 3D printed frames and window shades. They are inset into the 2x4s so they have a natural stop. The bottom support has subway doors that also open and close. 

We won the juried show and it was really nice to be recognized for a piece we worked hard on together. 

The auction was last week and Dad is now the proud owner of it after a hard-fought live auction battle 😁. Maybe we’ll put it in his new office for kids to play with?
